News > Dawson joins Intersport Racing

After a relatively successful year with the Autosport Designs Speed GT team last year, Craig has stepped up the American LeMans Series as Race Engineer for Intersport Racing. The team run a Creation CA06/H in the LMP1 class of the much-renowned series. The first race with Craig on board was at Lime Rock Park on 7th July 2007, with the team coming home 2nd in the LMP1 class, a seasons best. The car is supported by Kumho tyres, and the team have struggled this year for pace on the developing tyre. Dawson had attended two tests with the team, the first at Road America and the second at Mid Ohio before the Lime Rock race, and the improvement in the car was clear to see at the 7th round of the series. Craig said:
“This is an awesome opportunity for me, I have been really impressed with the team for a long time now, they are renowned for being giant killers, and its fantastic to be part of Clint and Jon Field’s team. Lime Rock was really good for us, we had a lot of problems over the weekend, and the team worked incredibly hard to get us a good car for race day. I really enjoy working along side Brian Alder (team manager and crew chief) and I think we work well together as a team.”
The series moves onto Mid Ohio in two weeks time, where the team are hoping for more improvements.
“The guys at the shop have a great deal of work to get the car back together in just 10 days, but with the improvements we have seen at Lime Rock Im sure we can be more competitive at Mid Ohio, its the teams home track, and although the nature of the course does not really suit the big LMP1 car, I am looking forward to it.”
